Flashback Friday...2/27/07

I was just minding my own business when all of the sudden this message popped up in my myspace inbox...and the rest is history............

What's up Bri? I work with Adrienne's boyfriend, Robert. Anyways, she was telling me about you a couple weeks ago at The City Grill...she said you were hot but that was a huge understatment. =) Ok ok, that was a lil cheesy but it's true! haha Well, hope to hear back from ya.

Jon

I normally would have thought this was a little crazy, but I thought what the heck and wrote him back. A little over three years later we have a wonderful son, own a home and have been married a little over 9 months. Funny what a little myspace message can do!

This picture is one of the first pictures taken of us after that first myspace message. It was about 2 1/2 weeks later on St. Patrick's Day of 2007!

Mother's day!

Mother's day is always special...but this year was awesome! I was just planning on going to church that Sunday morning like usual but Jon surprised me by telling me he wanted to take me to the beach. We woke up early Sunday morning, got ready quickly and headed to the beach (stopping at Starbucks on our way out of town!). We stopped for a yummy breakfast at Camp 18. Barrett loved it there because they had tons of tractors and things to look at. Every 2 year old would love that place! Barrett had never been to the beach because we always wanted to wait until he could walk. A baby crawling around in the wet cold sand sounded miserable to both Jon and I. The weather couldn't have been better! Not a cloud in the sky and the temp was in the 60's. Of course there was some wind...but, we are talking about the Oregon coast! Barrett loved it just as we figured he would. My first Mother's day was the week after Barrett was born. My 3rd Mother's day was his first trip to the beach. It's fun to make memories when you have such an amazing little boy to make them with.

Flashback Friday

This is a flashback to about 5 years ago exactly. My friend Krista and I were hanging out on a Friday night like we did so many times after I moved back to Portland from Idaho. We had so much fun acting crazy, dancing, laughing and often times made up funny names for people we would come across. Krista was a cheerleading coach at Aloha High School. I helped her judge tryouts in 2005 and to this day my memories of those tryouts give me some of my fondest (and funny) memories of my life. We laughed until we cried - literally! In the summer of 2008 Krista died of a rare auto immune disease. Some days I still can't believe she's gone. Her vibrant personality and pretty smile will be missed by so many people. I will miss ya forever!

Wordless Wednesday

I have decided to start doing posts on Wednesday titled "Wordless Wednesday" and just post pictures that don't need any explanation. I know a girl that does Wordless Wednesday and Flashback or Fashion Friday. I have decided to be a giant copycat and start doing the same. So, here is my first Wordless Wednesday {only this time it has words}

Finding tractors

This is a fun little game my little guy and I play every day on the way to daycare. There is quite a bit of road work going on in the Beaverton area...especially on our route to Bevie's house. I don't know what it is about little toddler boys but they absolutely LOVE tractors, trucks, buses and airplanes. Pretty much everything that adults ignore. I am amazed how alert and observant Barrett has become. He notices every one of those things on our quick drive in the mornings. As soon as we get into the car each morning Barrett says "Mommy find tractor" which is my cue to start looking everywhere I can to point out tractors in the midst of all the construction. He looks at my finds and gets really excited and immediately asks me to find more. I don't know what we will do when all the road work is done. Having a toddler helps me realize how much us adults miss out on every day. Wouldn't it be fun if all we had to worry about was finding tractors?!? Everything is a game with our little guy!

I can't put it off any longer...

I started this blog a long time ago but never ended up doing anything with it. I have been inspired by several of my friends to get on the bandwagon and update my blog on a regular basis. Stay tuned for some fun posts about our family of three!
